Unable to open your book

"VitalSource Bookshelf was unable to open your book. The following error was encountered: Object reference not set to an instance of an object"


This error can occur when the computer isn't restarted after VitalSource Bookshelf installation.

  1. Uninstall VitalSource Bookshelf from the Add/Remove programs;
  2. Restart the computer;
  3. Reinstall VitalSource Bookshelf;
  4. After installation is complete, restart the computer a second time BEFORE opening bookshelf.



If the issue persists, please submit a request for assistance via the IATA Customer Portal. Provide the following information:


  • Name of the publication;
  • Platform used:
    • Bookshelf Online (specify which browser)
      or
    • Bookshelf app (specify which operating system)
  • A brief description of the issue, including any relevant error message.
